“I took hold of that scourge -filled ship and crushed it between my limbs, hurtling it into the second sun, the red one that gave me strength. But I was too late." Terraformer
For those of you who are looking for new books appropriate for middle grade that both boys and girls might enjoy, this is the place to look!
Every month, at least one new book will be added for review right here and they will be reviewed by the best critics, KIDS! That’s right, the one’s who read them will be the judge!
This blog is written by my 9 year old nephew, Josh. Josh loves to draw robots on every piece of paper he can find. He loves books that already have pictures in them. Like Diary of the Wimpy Kids books, Captain Underpants, and Fly Guy books were a favorite when he was younger. Josh didn’t love to read and it’s still isn’t his favorite past time but he loves Captain Underpants and Diary of the Wimpy Kid books.
In the words of his mother, “First, may I introduce the energetic Josh. Joshua loves pepperoni pizza just like his dad, and like all boys he loves video games first and foremost. He loves Roblox, Minecraft, and Transformers Fall of Cybertron. Josh is in the 4th grade and is really good at math. He loves to play Pokemon with his older sister on the Nintendo 3DS whenever he can. He also flies remote control helicopters with his dad.”
Here’s Joshua’s Simpson self portrait,
Setting:
In 4th grade two best friends George Beard and Harold Hutchins create their own cartoons based off of their life at school. George and Harold don’t the like the mean principal Mr. Krupp. Mr. Krupp turns into Captain Underpants in real life with a 3D Hypno Ring that changes Mr. Krupp into Captain Underpants who is more likeable and a hero with plungers and underwear.
Here’s Joshua’s hypno ring,
Main Character:
George Beard has flat top haircut. George used to have hair as big as a disco ball, but his best friend Harold Hutchins cut it when he was in Kindergarten. Harold has a bad haircut too, and his hair is fluffy and yellow. They love to switch letters around on things like signs to crate rude and funny messages. The teachers don’t like George and Harold’s pranks, attitudes, or behavior. They love to get into trouble.
Personal Review:
These are my all time favorite books. George and Harold made me laugh because of all the pranks. I got into reading because of these books. All my friends at school love them too. They are making an animation movie to come out in January 2017. I can’t wait!
Here’s a list and link to the other books we’ve reviewed:

I’m Linda Louise, one of the bloggers on this website and Colleen’s little sister. I’m just a girl in her mid-thirties who feels thirteen when I play outside with my boys, fifteen when I sing my heart out listening to tunes while driving by myself, and sixty five when I go out past ten at night. I have a thing for junior mints, Mt. Dew, shrimp and kale (though not all at once) and I have a crush on Superman. I still get girlish butterflies when I read Twilight, cry when I read These is My Words, and smile from ear to ear when I read Anne of Green Gables. I have nightmares about aliens on a regular basis and I have a bad habit of midnight snacking. I love everything sports, except golf (although can that honestly be considered a sport??), and I hate anything that slithers, hisses, or stings. I have a problem with giggling at inappropriate moments and I sometimes wish life was a musical. I love science, hate math, love Dr. Seuss, and hate olives. My family is my world and my joys come from their happiness. I’ve learned I don’t know much about anything and I live for a good adventure, naps, cuddles, stories, exceptional food and The Shire.
