The 2019 Valentine’s Gift Pack
Hello Readers, The 2018 holiday gift pack was such a hit, I decided to do it again for Valentine’s Day. This time I’m offering you the choice of three different books. I’ll try to change it up every season and do different books so you have the opportunity to collect them all. Make sure to tell me the name you want me to make the book out to and it’s totally fine to give yourself a Valentine’s gift. I won’t judge. I’m also offering the same deal to my international fans though I can’t guarantee I can get the books …
The 2018 Holiday Gift Pack!
Hello Readers I love and I mean love shopping for the holidays. The only thing I love more than shopping for the holidays is probably decorating for the holidays and then baking comes in a close third. Vendel Miniatures is best guide for holiday shopping. This year I decided to do a little something extra for my readers in the form of a gift. I’d like to make this an annual tradition where I pick something special I have lots of and create a fun gift pack as a special collector’s edition for my fans. If you want the book …
Falling for Apple Pie!
Falling for Apple Pie November is here and that means Thanksgiving is right at our doorstep, so I thought it would be fun to share some of my personal favorite pie recipes with you. After all, there is no dessert that says “home” or “holiday” like a pie. Here’s a holiday rhyme to start things off, When all the leaves are off the boughs, And nuts and apples gathered in, And cornstalks waiting for the cows, And pumpkins safe in barn and bin, The Mother says, “My children dear, The fields are brown, and autumn flies; Thanksgiving Day is …
These are a few of my favorite things- Halloween!
When the fall wind blows across the warm summer air, and the leaves come alive as they dance in the cool breeze, the landscape gently rolls from shades of green to oranges, reds, and pinks. The smells of morning dew, chimney smoke and cinnamon are sweet to my soul. There is a magic in the Autumn air that I can feel in the gentle rain, I can sense in the setting sun, I can hear in the crunch beneath my shoes. Fall is here and with it, Halloween, a fun and exciting time of the year and one of my favorites! I thought it would be fun to …
Romance that make us Ache
Sometimes when you watch another couple fall in love on screen those first moments are captured in a sweet melody. Those melodies stay in our mind and we feel those achy fluttering rushes of anticipation along with the characters. Here are some of my favorite couples who fall in love on screen and let us feel a glimpse of their love. A Walk to Remember Set in North Carolina, “A Walk To Remember” follows the rite of passage of a jaded, aimless high school senior (Shane West) who falls in love with a guileless young woman (Mandy Moore) he and …
4th of July at Colleen Houck Residence
Happy belated 4th of July America! This summer has been a whirlwind of activities for Colleen from attending RT Book Convention in May, going to San Diego Comic Con, finishing edits for book two of the Egyptian series, working on the novella, prepping for the REAWAKENED book launch coming up in August and hosting family for the week of Fourth of July. I’d like to share some of our highlights these past weeks, some fun, others delicious, a couple exciting and yet tiring, and I’d be lying if there wasn’t a little insanity, but. . . mostly it has been crazy cool! I begin at the doorstep of the …

FIRECRACKER SNICKERDOODLES Sweet and fiery, these cinnamon candy glazed snickerdoodles are perfect for the 4th of July or Valentine’s Day! Reflecting on Mothers
I thought I’d step outside of the typical blog topics found here, and share a few of my thoughts on the subject of mothers. As you are most likely aware, Mother’s Day is just around the corner and as such, my thoughts have been on my own mother. The typical thoughts I usually have is what to buy her to express my love. Flowers? Candy? Gift Card to her favorite restaurant? Jewelry? How funny it is to me to think that those material, short lived gifts are gifted as a representation of my love and appreciation! I adore my mother, …
In The Doghouse
Originally written on October 6, 2010 by Colleen Houck Both Ren and Kishan are great gift givers but I think the worst gift stories would be more interesting. If you haven’t seen “In the Doghouse” you should watch it. Some of you already know my Christmas present story but I’ll share mine again. We were snowed in a year ago or so and could only make it to Costco for our Christmas shopping. I, of course, didn’t need to do much since all my shopping is done online now except for stocking stuffers. Brad hadn’t done anything so he took …
